Holy Family Lay Associates

The Holy Family Lay Associates are one of the five branches of the Holy Family of Bordeaux founded in 1820 by Pierre Bienvenu Noailles a priest in Bordeaux.

The Holy Family of Bordeaux is a worldwide spiritual and apostolic family and consists of the following five branches open to all men, women and children from all walks of life.

  • Apostolic Sisters
  • Contemplative Sisters
  • Secular
  • Lay Associates
  • Priest Associates

Every branch of the Holy Family has their own set of statues to follow and these help us to follow in the footsteps of Pierre Bienvenue Noailles and continue with his work, by helping and caring for each other.

The Holy Family Lay Associates in Skelmersdale was started by Sister Monica about 20 years ago and has steadily grown over the years and has members from all three churches within the town.

We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at St Francis convent and start the meeting with prayers, readings or a reflection.  There is a short discussion either about our statues or piece of work received from the different committees within the Holy Family. The meeting ends with a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits and a chance to socialise with each other.

HOLY FAMILY SISTERS

In 1820 a group of women belonging to Fr Noailles' lay association consecrated themselves to religious life. They formed the first community of apostolic sisters within the Holy Family of Bordeaux. Today the Sisters serve in a variety of apostolates throughout the world. Sr Eileen is engaged in pastoral ministry within our parish. To find out more about the Holy Family and their work contact The Sisters (you can use the form above).
